In light of the changing educational scene in Uganda, particularly with the new Lower Secondary School Curriculum introduced in 2020 and the focus on ongoing improvement mentioned in the National Teachers Policy (2019), there is a strong need for specialized training for in-service secondary school teachers in Uganda. This is why the Project-Based Learning for Agriculture Teachers (PAT) was created.

The PAT is a four-month course that combines different learning methods, allowing in-service O-level teachers to enhance their teaching skills.

The course's goal is to help agriculture teachers effectively teach the new O-level agriculture curriculum by using gender-responsive project-based learning (PBL). This method helps students acquire knowledge, skills, aspirations, and connections to pursue agriculture careers.

The course includes 45 hours of blended learning, with 30 hours of in-person sessions during school holidays and 15 hours of online learning during the term. The learning format consists of one week of in-person training at NTC Mubende and Unyama campuses, 12 weeks of online learning using the Moodle Learning Management System and Zoom, and one week of support supervision.
